SOLAROAD, which will be soon implemented in a small town in Northern Holland, is an innovation of a Dutch engineer, it is a cycling path made of concrete with embedded solar cells covered by toughened glass surface. These cells collect solar energy in the peak light season to be used in the periods of low light.
The SOLAROAD is expected to power the whole traffic system of the town plus the residential units.
The idea of solar roads has been previously presented by an American engineer, you can learn more about it by going to SOLAR ROADWAYS
